Living with Type 1 Diabetes

It all started when…

I was seven years old, thirsty, tired and so sick of food. Nothing like me! I was diagnosed with type one diabetes within days.

I was quickly put onto insulin injections and shown how to count carbohydrates. I learned how best to manage this condition and found out so much about food in the process.

Since then, technology has come on leaps and bounds. I wear a Medtronic insulin pump now and a Dexcom, continuous glucose monitor. They make things so much easier.

Things are not yet completely automated, but so much simpler than in the 1980's and I have no doubt they will continue to improve.
